"PURPOSE" |ˈpərpəs|
noun
the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists
Purpose, a key word in any human endeavour. What are we doing here? For which purpose? This question is fundamental, not only from a philosophical or religious point of view, but very pragmatically from an economic and social, and therefore managerial, perspective. The dedication to work, to an association, to one's family etc. have huge implications on everyone's performance, on the overall economic performance, and as well on the overall well being within the society.
The new environment (a simplistic way to define the fact that our society becomes collaborative, is in crisis, has to face a multitude of new issues i.e. forces a paradigm shift) does not change the fundamental questions but puts them within a new context and within a new scale.

Le nouvel Institut Boostzone
|
|

|
From July 15th on, the Boostzone Institute morphs into a new shape in order to better respond to the market situation and the member's requirement. In short the purpose of the Institute has moved from evangelization to implementation and to the management of organizational implications.
This means that the content both of the blog and of the researches conducted by the Institute require some " validation" by a "scientific committee" composed of senior executives. It also requires bringing new state of the art pieces of knowledge to the members, new forms of information filtering and tagging, some innovative forms of training, etc. in order to remain a premier source of information and thought leadership.
The New Boostzone Institute is not targeting to have many members but to have members seriously interested in what will happen to the organization of work within corporations in the future. Therefore small working groups will be a privileged choices vs. large conferences. The blog will be used to publish the results but the Cercle will stay the closed core of discussion and thinking for the Institute.
I hope you will like the evolution of Boostzone and continue to trust us as a reliable source on the world of work as well as on the issues related to social media centric management.

On Shirky's last book,
By Martin Roulleaux Dugage
A few snippets of Clay Shirky's last book, "Here Comes Everybody" and which relate to Enterprise 2.0 :
-
When we change the way we communicate, we change society.
-
[The value of hierarchies] is obvious- it vastly simplifies communication among the employees. (---) If you have ever wondered why so much of what workers in large organizations know has been shielded from the CEO and vice-versa, wonder no longer: the idea of limiting communications, so that they flow only from one layer of the hierarchy to the next, was part of the very design of the system at the dawn of managerial culture.
-
(---) any forum of public expression is dangerous, because no matter how innocuous the original form form of organization is, if the state is seen to tolerate it, it can become a forum for more focused discontent.

Will there be a Collaborative Management Crisis?
By Dominique Turcq
The financial crisis had been predicted by several experts but nearly nobody wanted to see it. The economic growth and the financial bubble looked so good to have and the financial system looked so stable (with its outrageous health and the huge bonuses of bankers) that it seemed on the contrary to a crisis that a new Graal had been found.
Today the debt crisis that will fall upon us with its rain of implied taxes and bad news for the free enterprise is obvious to see, but nearly nobody wants to see it. The situation looks bad enough, everyone wants to believe and let believe that the economy will rebound in 2010 (any real tangible proof of that?) and few dare to say that what is done now is simultaneously not enough because it is just the first iceberg we hit on this ocean of issues due to the sea change our global capitalist system is going through.
